Qualcomm Technologies Joins NYU WIRELESS Research Center

Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has joined the NYU WIRELESS research center as its fifth industrial affiliate sponsor and board member.

NYU WIRLESS is a new research center at NYU and Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly) that includes more than 20 faculty and 100 graduate students in engineering, computer science, and medicine.  Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, operates substantially all of Qualcomm’s engineering, research and development functions, and substantially all of its products and services businesses, including its semiconductor business, QCT. Qualcomm is the world leader in 3G, 4G, and next-generation wireless technologies.

“Qualcomm Technologies’ research and engineering are world renowned, and we are pleased that our faculty and students will work closely with Qualcomm researchers. We are delighted to have Qualcomm Technologies’ active involvement in our center as we work on advancing the renaissance of wireless communications," said Professor Theodore (Ted) Rappaport, NYU WIRELESS director and founder. Rappaport holds the David Lee/Ernst Weber Chair in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of Polytechnic Institute of New York University, as well as appointments in NYU’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, and in the Department of Radiology at NYU Langone Medical Center.

Other NYU WIRELESS Industrial Affiliates advisory board members include Interdigital Communications, L-3 Communications, National Instruments and Samsung Corporation.

NYU WIRELESS recently completed its move into 13,500 square feet of world-class research space, with four labs for wireless research, computing, and medical applications on the NYU-Poly campus in MetroTech Center in downtown Brooklyn.
