Poly's Got Talent: winner crowned in talent competition

After four nights of intense competition, Poly crowned it’s most talented on-stage presence: Kurt Williams, who won first place with the judges and the fans.

The final round of Poly’s Got Talent was held on Friday, December 7. It ended with a special guest comedian, Myq Kaplan,  and was guest hosted by comedian Romont Harris, who has appeared on television shows such as NBC’s “It’s Showtime at the Apollo” and BET’s “Comic View.”

Richard Toth, Academic Advisor, Dawn Duncan, Vice President of Development and University Relations, and Robert Griffin, Acting Coordinator of Student Activities served as the evening’s judges.

The first half of the show consisted of encore performances by the top ten semi-final contestants. After a brief intermission, they were reduced to five. Then, the final competitors gave their last performances.

Williams played a keyboard solo of the hit “Crank That (Souljah Boy),” by the artist Souljah Boy, that brought the crowd to its feet. He scored a perfect 10 out of 10 with all three judges.

“I wish your grades were as high as these scores,” judge Toth said.

In that case, the grand prize should have been straight A’s.
