Philadelphia has a lot more deadly shootings than expected for a big city
Institute Professor Maurizio Porfiri, Director of The Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP), led research that explores the role that population size of cities plays on the incidences of gun homicides, gun ownership and licensed gun sellers, finding Philadelphia experiences a higher-than-expected rate of violence despite having far fewer homes with firearms and fewer gun dealers than what its population would predict.
