Owen Davis, NYC Seed


Look for Mr. Davis at the Varick Street Incubator run by the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and he’s invariably huddled with a bunch of young entrepreneurs, helping them plot out the next steps in their game plans.

Mr. Davis, 45, is the head of NYC Seed, a seed-stage venture fund that is a partnership between the New York City Investment Fund, the Industrial and Technology Assistance Corp., NYU-Poly and the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation. A new offshoot, SeedStart, provides young companies with $20,000, office space and the advice of seasoned VCs and entrepreneurs to help get their companies launched.

Mr. Davis’ mission: making New York City a go-to place for innovation.
