Obituary: Bennett P. Boffardi / Water treatment expert
Bennett P. Boffardi had a thing for gadgets. And when he couldn’t find the appropriate gadget, he created it, including the case he fashioned to safely store blades for a food processor. It is perhaps not surprising for a man who held 17 patents, authored dozens of technical publications and who worked for many years as a water treatment specialist and researcher at Calgon Corp. … Mr. Boffardi earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a doctoral degree in physical chemistry from St. John’s University in New York City, and a master’s degree in physical chemistry from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn [now the NYU Tandon School of Engineering].
