NYU WIRELESS Moves into World-Class Research Space

NYU WIRELESS faculty and students have completed their move into 13,500 square feet of world-class research space, with four labs for wireless research, computing, and medical applications.

The lab research centers’ space was designed to create an environment that fosters collaboration. Located on the ninth floor of 2 MetroTech Center, part of NYU-Poly’s campus in downtown Brooklyn campus, the facility is equipped with an executive conference room, special visitor work carrels, as well as seating for collaborators and corporate sponsors, a conference room with a technical library for graduate students, and several common areas conducive to brainstorming session and social interactions.

The new laboratories contain a wide range of instruments including field-programmable gate array (FPGA) circuit development platforms, radio frequency (RF) channel sounders, signal generators, vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers, circuit and simulation workstations, and semiconductor probe stations. The lab is fully equipped to perform communications, networking, and signal processing research for fifth generation (5G) wireless topics, as well as new medical wireless devices.

With more than 75 student workstations, the space provides a dedicated workplace for NYU WIRELESS student researchers and faculty from throughout NYU. NYU WIRELESS researchers include faculty and students from Courant, Langone School of Medicine, and NYU-Poly.

NYU WIRELESS labs share space on the floor with three new, large-capacity NYU-Poly classrooms featuring the latest technologies in acoustics, lighting, and multi-media surround sound.
