NYU-Poly/NYU Graduate Program Is Rated One of the Top in North America
Great Game Design!
There are many graduate game design programs to choose from, and The Princeton Review lists the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly) and NYU among the best.
For its newly released report, "Top Schools to Study Video Game Design for 2013," the Princeton Review, one of the country's best-known education services companies, conducted an in-depth survey of 150 programs in both the U.S. and Canada, looking at curriculum, faculty, facilities and infrastructure, as well as scholarships, financial aid and career opportunities.
After compiling the answers, the editors ranked NYU-Poly/NYU in the top 10 percent.
“Our engineering focus means that our students get a good look at the programming and hardware aspects of game design,” explained Katherine Isbister, director of NYU-Poly’s Game Innovation Lab and associate professor of computer science and engineering. “We’re gratified that The Princeton Review has acknowledged just how special our graduate program is.”
The ranking comes on the heels of the announcement that NYU is launching the Media and Games Network (MAGNET), a facility in Brooklyn’s MetroTech Center that will bring together NYU and NYU-Poly faculty whose focus bridges technology and culture. The new multi-school cluster will co-locate teaching and research programs in game design, digital media design, computer science, engineering and games as a creative art form that matters every bit as much as cultural forms such as music, painting and film. It is scheduled to open in fall 2013.
While The Princeton Review list includes schools from all over North America, Brooklyn is unquestionably on its way to becoming a gaming epicenter.
