NYU-Poly Opens New Facility In Downtown Brooklyn

New York University is branching out in Brooklyn.

City officials joined officials from NYU-Poly Friday to mark the opening of the Polytechnic Institute at the MetroTech Center in downtown Brooklyn.

It's a 120,000-square-foot expansion featuring a new state of the art science and educational center.

"We must keep ahead of this race in technology. If we don't, we are then reverted as a country to second and third tier," said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.

The expansion is part of the school's long-term plan to add more academic space outside of Greenwich Village.
