Men's Tennis Opens With Win

FLUSHING, NY -  The NYU-Poly men's tennis team opened its 2011 season with a convincing 6-3 win over United States Merchant Marine Academy Sunday in a non-conference contest.

Junior Yan Krasny (Far Rockaway, NY) won at first singles 6-1 and 6-0, to continue where he left off last season. The back-to-back Skyline Conference Player of the Year dismantled USMMA's number one Jeff Gultis.

Other winners for NYU-Poly were sophomore Julian Wrede (New York, NY) at second singles by a 6-0 and 7-5 margin. Freshmen Michael Ye and Michael Lupo rounded out singles wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.

The Jays won second and third doubles play as Krasny and junior Kyle Garingalao (Eatontown, NJ) won 8-2 at second doubles. The third doubles team of Alex Ryzhko and Kelvin Lin held on to a 9-7 win.
