Maurizio Porfiri (People in Control)

Maurizio Porfiri is a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and biomedical engineering at NYU Tandon.

In this issue of IEEE Control Systems Magazine, we have interviews with three IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) members elevated to IEEE Fellow in 2019: Maurizio Porfiri, Keum-Shik Hong, and Min Wu. … Q. What courses do you teach relating to control? …  Maurizio: For undergraduate students, I teach the classical Measurement Systems class and one I developed called Interdisciplinary Engineering Thinking, which seeks to offer mechanical engineering students a refreshing perspective on their curriculum. The class demonstrates important analogies between engineering and life science, empowering them with the understanding that their training is far broader than what we may have taught them in class.
