IEEE Conference Honors Student Research
The IEEE INFOCOM selected NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering doctoral student Zizhong Cao’s recent work for the 2014 Best Paper Award. The conference, held by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), is a top-tier event that focuses on key topics facing computer communications, with an emphasis on traffic management and protocols for both wired and wireless networks.
The award-winning paper is called “Joint Static and Dynamic Traffic Scheduling in Data Center Networks” and is authored by Cao with Murali Kodialam and T.V. Lakshman of Bell Laboratories/Alcatel-Lucent. The authors examine traffic in a data center and they develop a combined scheduler that allows for a more balanced flow of data through networks.
Cao is a student of Shivendra Panwar, professor and chair of the Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering and is part of the research team at the Center for Advanced Technology in Telecommunications (CATT) and the NYU WIRELESS research center.
