How social media companies are preparing for misinformation after Election Day
Social media platforms are facing scrutiny over their preparedness for election misinformation after November 5, 2024. While some companies like TikTok claim to have safeguards in place, many are rolling back protective policies. As Yael Eisenstat, Senior Fellow in Cybersecurity For Democracy at the NYU Center for Cybersecurity, notes, "Four years ago, these things were not organized on our platforms... I would think that four years later, they would want to assure the public that they're doing everything they can to make sure they don't actually contribute to potential violence again."
