How should AT&T customers react to the company's data breach?

AT&T disclosed a massive data breach last week, saying hackers stole the call or text records for nearly all of its cellular customers for a period of several months in 2022. Professor Justin Cappos warns that customers should be concerned. The data “is really valuable for identity theft, valuable for stalking, valuable for all sorts of other nefarious means.” He said AT&T should do more to protect customers’ data. “It would be great [for the company] to do things to restrict who has access to [data], to perhaps not connect it directly to the Internet but require those people to go somewhere on the [company] premises” to access it.
