How bad could the cyberattack on Long Beach be?
Associate Professor Justin Cappos commented on the major cybersecurity breach that took place in Long Branch, which prompted the city to take down certain systems for safety the following day; two days after that, the City Council declared a local emergency to address the problem. “The reason they go after these municipalities is they have money. This is a business for the attackers,” said Cappos, cautioning that “Too often there will be a flurry of spending in the wake of an attack, and then officials will return to not focusing on cyber security.”
