Google’s generative AI fails 'will slowly erode our trust in Google'

Google's new AI Overview feature in Search has faced several issues, providing inaccurate and even absurd information to users. Associate Professor Chinmay Hegde expressed concern, stating, "Google is supposed to be the premier source of information on the internet, and if that product is watered down, it will slowly erode our trust in Google." The company attributes these flaws to its rushed efforts to compete with Microsoft and OpenAI, prioritizing speed over quality control, which could ultimately undermine user trust in its AI products.
