Drones can revolutionise urban safety and emergency response
The AERIAL project, a collaboration between VTT Finland and NYU WIRELESS ending this month, has developed millimeter-wave communication technology enabling drones to improve emergency response. NYU WIRELESS Associate Director Sundeep Rangan led efforts to overcome signal propagation challenges, creating systems that allow drones to guide ambulances through traffic and provide firefighters with real-time aerial views of disaster scenes – advancements that could significantly reduce emergency response times.
