Dr. Boaz Gelernter, Holocaust Survivor, World War II Vet, Dies

Services were held on Sunday.


Dr. Boaz Gelernter of Elberon died peacefully in his home on March 09, 2018. He was 96. Dr. Gelernter was born in Vienna, Austria in 1921. … He was orphaned by the Holocaust. Dr. Gelernter served honorably in the US Army in Word War II. He became a United States citizen while fighting in the Pacific at Guadalcanal. He went on to obtain a bachelor's degree from Columbia University, master's degree from Rutgers University, and a PhD in Electrophysics from Brooklyn Polytechnic [now the NYU Tandon School of Engineering].
