Dr. Andres Fortino Appointed as Associate Provost and Dean of Westchester Campus
Dr. Andres Fortino has joined Polytechnic University as associate provost and dean of our Westchester Campus. Fortino holds an extensive background in education both in the academic environment and in industry. Prior to coming to Polytechnic University he served as dean of the School of Management at Marist College.
Before joining Marist in 2004, Fortino served as associate dean for academic development at George Mason University (GMU) in Virginia. As an administrator and professor in GMU’s School of Management, Fortino pioneered a number of innovative programs, including a master’s in bioscience management, a master’s in technology management and an MBA program for Northrop Grumman executives.
Fortino has lectured extensively on technology worldwide and has led more than 180 high technology seminars for Learning Tree International, a company specializing in worldwide hands-on training for management and technology professionals. He also worked for the IBM Corporation in its advanced technology division and is the recipient of IBM’s first invention level award for his work in semiconductor research. While at IBM, he filed several patents and numerous invention disclosures.
The author of seven books about information technology and network management, he has practiced the application of information technology to solving business problems for the past 30 years.
Fortino holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the City College of New York and received his PhD in electrical engineering from the City University of New York. He is a member of the Academy of Management, a senior member of IEEE Engineering Management Society, a Fulbright Scholar and is currently president of the Technology Management Educational Association.
