Harvey Sharfstein passed away peacefully on February 22, 2018, surrounded by friends and family at the age of 89. … Harvey graduated from Brooklyn Tech in 1945 and went on to study Mechanical Engineering at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (Brooklyn Poly) [now the NYU Tandon School of Engineering], receiving his Bachelor’s degree in 1951. He worked for the Lindholm Engineering Company from 1951 to 1952 and the Benrus Watch Company from 1952 to 1956 before returning to [NYU Tandon] as an instructor in 1956. He received his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from [NYU Tandon] in 1960 and was appointed as an Assistant Professor.
