Thankfully, Joo H. Kim, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering, is working on this problem.

In all seriousness, he’s been given a grant to design robo-suits — particularly the bottom half — that better conform to the human body. A better design means higher performance for the people who will be wearing them, that is, disabled individuals, heavy labor workers or military soldiers.

“The end user’s individual requirements will be considered right from the very beginning, and at each stage of the process,” Kim said in a press release.
