City raises $9 M. from private sector for education agenda


The de Blasio administration has raised almost $9 million from the private sector for education-related initiatives in the last four months, an effort city officials say is proof of the business community's willingness to support the mayor on education issues.

"We have found that the corporate sector is very with us on education, and cares deeply about these issues," Gabrielle Fialkoff, director of the city's Office of Strategic Partnerships, said in a recent interview. "We have asked them to come to the table," she said, to help the administration tackle issues surrounding income inequality.
