ChatGPT is 'not particularly innovative,' and 'nothing revolutionary,' says Meta's chief AI scientist
Yann LeCun, NYU Tandon professor and Meta’s Chief of AI, commented on ChatGPT’s lack of novelty. “In terms of underlying techniques, ChatGPT is not particularly innovative, although that's the way it's perceived in the public. OpenAI is not particularly advanced compared to the other labs, at all," said LeCun, who’s explanation stems from the fact that many research labs and companies have built similar AI tools in the recent past.
