AI-driven biometry and the infrastructures of everyday life


In a piece about AI-driven biometry, Mona Sloane, author of the article and member of the Center for Responsible AI, spoke on how “when AI technologies are used to power systems that judge or classify aspects of the human body, then they — inevitably — deploy biometric methods at scale,” adding that “when AI-driven biometry proliferates outside of the public eye and without oversight… we run the risk of normalizing not only harmful technologies, but also the underlying principles and assumptions of oppression and discrimination.”
