Zivan Zabar is Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Polytechnic University in Brooklyn, NY. He received his Ph.D. from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in 1972. His areas of interest are electric power systems, electric drives, and power electronics. He served as the Head of ECE Department at Poly for three years (1995 to 1998). Since 1979, he has continuous research support from the two electric utilities in the Metropolitan area, Consolidated Edison and Keyspan Energy. He has six patents and more than 50 papers published in technical journals. He is a senior member of the IEEE, and a member of Sigma Xi.
Research Interests
Exploratory research on novel schemes for electromagnetic launchers. Analysis and development of an area substation load model to include the effect of harmonics. Study, design and construction of a battery charger.
