Geographical Research of Landscape Perception
Join us for an informative session where we will explore the connection between virtual reality (VR), geography, and the human senses. Our guest speakers will present their project that shows VR's potential to transform our understanding of landscapes.
This event will take you on a journey through the use of 360° photography, videography, and digital 3D modeling to create virtual landscapes that immerse you in the experience of the physical world. Our speakers will explain how this project evaluates how we see landscapes through VR and engages our senses in new ways.
Whether you're a researcher, student, professional, or simply curious about the future of VR and landscape exploration, this event will provide valuable insights into how virtual technology is transforming our understanding of space, place, and perception.
Join us to explore the possibilities of virtual landscapes and discover how VR is more than just entertainment; it's a powerful tool for scientific research and a deeper understanding of human-environment interactions.
Presenting Authors

She works at the Faculty of Geographical Sciences, Institute of Urban Geography, Tourism Studies, and Geoinformation. Her research focuses on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data, and spatial analysis, particularly addressing the Modifiable Areal Unit Problem (MAUP) and land cover studies. Marta also applies GIS and spatial analysis methods in tourism research and is actively involved in the project “FRONTSH1P – FRONTrunner approach Transition to a circular & resilient future: deployment of systemic solutions with the support of local clusters and the development of regional community-based innovation schemes” under the EU Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
Katarzyna Leśniewska-Napierała is an assistant professor and researcher specializing in socio-economic geography. Since 2014, she has been affiliated with the Faculty of Geographical Sciences at the University of Lodz, working in the Institute of the Built Environment and Spatial Policy. Katarzyna also collaborates with the CiTUR – Centre for Tourism Research, Development, and Innovation in Portugal. Her research primarily focuses on the social aspects of spatial planning and the application of qualitative methods in geography. She actively participates in educational and research projects at both national and international levels. Katarzyna is a regular participant in mobilities supported by the Erasmus+ Programme and EEA Norway grants. Additionally, he collaborates with the CiTUR – Centre for Tourism Research, Development, and Innovation in Portugal. His research focuses on the spatial dynamics of competition within the hotel industry, particularly the spatial volatility of hotel prices and its impact on competitiveness. Tomasz collaborates with researchers from various disciplines, including spatial econometrics and ICT, to explore the competitiveness, attractiveness, and sustainability of tourism destinations. He has actively participated in international mobilities supported by the Erasmus+ Programme and EEA and Norway grants. From 2019 to 2022, he led the international project “SPOT – Sustainable spatial planning of tourism destinations,” co-financed by the Erasmus+Programme.
