Title:

"Renewable energies for power systems"

Abstract:

My name is Edris Pouresmaeil, and I am a professor of Renewable Energies at Aalto University, located in Finland. In my presentation at NYU, I will delve into my extensive research endeavors and ongoing projects related to the integration of renewable energy sources (RESs) and energy storage systems (ESSs) within power grids.

My primary research focus is centered on the development and implementation of innovative techniques to facilitate the large-scale deployment of renewable energies in power grids, thereby increasing their efficiency, reliability, resilience, and stability. Such efforts align with the global initiative to transition towards green energy and carbon neutrality.

My research findings have been published in reputable journals and conferences, and I have secured funding from distinguished entities such as the European Commission, Business Finland, the Academy of Finland, and numerous national and international industrial sectors.

Furthermore, during the presentation, I will discuss my teaching philosophy and experience, as well as my efforts towards student supervision and mentoring. I will also explore the societal impacts of my research, potential funding avenues, and collaborators. Lastly, I will outline my future plans for teaching and research.
