About this Event:

Although discussions regarding sustainability and climate change have gained traction in recent years, the sheer scale, complexity, and prevalence of systemic environmental injustices can often cause individuals to wonder where they can start, or if they can contribute at all.

Join our Design Lab Coordinator, Som, and MakerSpace TAs Masuma, Florentina, and Angy to learn about simple yet effective ways you can make an impact on this seemingly insurmountable matter. This workshop aims to inform students of groups and projects that they can join today to make a positive difference in the current trajectory of our environment. Whether it’s through social media, NYU clubs and projects, the local NYC community, or national organizations, participants can expect to walk away with a better grasp of immediate actions that may be taken to achieve a more sustainable future.

This workshop is a part of Design Week 2021: Designing Waste Out and is presented by Design Lab @ NYU MakerSpace. Design Week is an annual week of events focused on a critical aspect of design. The week is packed with talks, workshops, and a panel, and will be highlighting projects on sustainability happening at NYU as well. All of this year's events will be completely virtual. You can check out the rest of the week's events here.
