Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing platform and infrastructure for building, deploying and managing applications and services through a worldwide network of Microsoft-managed datacenters. In this talk I’ll give an overview of Microsoft Azure’s architecture and highlight some of the research challenges in cloud computing.

Bio: Marcus is currently an architect for Microsoft Azure. Prior to Microsoft, he was as at Google (2011-2013), Yahoo! Research (2005-2010), and IBM Research (2000-2005), where he worked on several projects in the areas of Web Search, Advertising, and Databases.
