Mission Statement

The mission of the NYU School of Engineering Office of Student Leadership & Engagement is to support the academic goals of the School by providing services and programs designed to enhance and maximize students’ co-curricular educational opportunities. All programs and services are designed and implemented with the aim of creating a rich educational environment, infused with the core values of: community engagement and civic responsibility; diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; innovation and creative thinking; interpersonal and leadership development; and connection to the global university. The Office of Student Leadership & Engagement strives to increase student satisfaction in Brooklyn, assist in the retention of students leading to graduation, and provide opportunities for students to develop essential life skills.

Location & Hours

We are located in LC 221 and LC 223.

The office is open weekdays (Monday - Friday) from 9am-5pm throughout the academic year, except for university holidays.

  • Anjali Shiyamsaran - as17229@nyu.edu
    Anjali is a second year Integrated Design and Media masters student at NYU Tandon from Rochester, New York. She is the graphic design Graduate Assistant for the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement. She recently graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Human-Centered Computing and specialization in UX research and design. She also holds interests in environmental sustainability and law. Anjali enjoys reading books, writing stories, and listening to k-pop–her favorite group is TWICE!
     
  • Beneah Gorospe - bcg7862@nyu.edu
    Beneah (BG) hails from the Philippines and holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Santo Tomas. She worked at a FinTech company focusing on the North American Energy landscape for almost three years while strongly advocating for environmentalism and youth empowerment through speaking engagements. Given her previous involvement, she is now pursuing an MS in Global Affairs, concentrating on Environmental and Energy Policy at NYU School of Professional Studies where she is also a dean’s scholar, mentor, and a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Group. BG is a Graduate Assistant at the NYU Tandon Office of Student Leadership and Engagement and oversees student clubs and organizations. On her down time, she enjoys a good novel or binge watch tv series while munching on anything sweet!
     
  • Cheyenne Sewell - ccs9424@nyu.edu
    Cheyenne serves as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Leadership & Engagement. Cheyenne received her BS in Anthropology from James Madison University and is currently pursuing her MPH in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Science, and Practice from the School of Global Public Health, New York University. Cheyenne works with the Graduate Student Council (GSC), the WoMentorship Program, Tandon Sparks, as well as eight other student organizations here at Tandon. They include American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Association for Computing Machinery for Women (ACM-W), BioMedical Engineering Society (BMES), Design for America at NYU (DFA), Graduate Indian Student (GISA), oSTEM, Society for Human Resource Management (TechSHRM), and STEMinist. Cheyenne enjoys going to the movies, taking dance classes, and eating really good food. Her favorite show is currently Bridgerton.
     
  • Erik Anaya - ez211@nyu.edu
    Erik is a Graduate Assistant at Tandon's Office of Student Leadership and Engagement. Erik earned his Bachelor of Arts in History Education and a minor in Business Administration at California State University, Chico. He is a candidate for a Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership and Student Affairs (HESA) at NYU Steinhardt. He works with several clubs on campus (CMAA, CSC, NY-MLC, NYWEA, Patent Pending, PGN, SHPE, and SES) and Tandon Undergraduate Student Council (TUSC) with Funding, Chief of Staff, Programming, and Community Outreach. Erik has a passion for increasing accessibility and student development throughout campus. Erik writes young adult novels outside the office and watches the Simpsons while eating his Fried Chicken.
     
  • Kara Lord Bissett - kal9420@nyu.edu
    Kara Lord Bissett hails from Dublin, Ireland. She is a Graduate Assistant in the Tandon Office of Student Leadership & Engagement, and she is currently undertaking the Master of Performing Arts Administration program at NYU Steinhardt. Kara achieved her BMus degree at TU Dublin Conservatoire, where she studied concert harp performance and pedagogy under Professor Clíona Doris. She has worked professionally as a harpist and music teacher, and is interested in promoting access to education. Kara looks forward to meeting and working with all of the wonderful students at Tandon!
     
  • Reshad Sharif - ms14017@nyu.edu
    Reshad is originally from Afghanistan and moved to NYC in 2022, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Global Affairs, specializing in International Development and Humanitarian Assistance. Reshad is currently serving as Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Leadership & Engagement at NYU Tandon. He collaborates closely with various student clubs including the Graduate Student Council (GSC) and the International Student Advisory Board (ISAB), along with seven other clubs. Beyond his academic and professional commitments, Reshad enjoys immersing himself in the vibrant energy of Manhattan, exploring the city's urban landscape. He also finds relaxation in watching compelling drama series, with his top picks including "Breaking Bad," "Game of Thrones," and "Narcos."
