Jing | NYU Tandon School of Engineering

Biotechnology has made a tremendous contribution to the quality of our lives. This is why I decided to further my study of Biotech and enrolled in an MS at NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

The classes in this program cover a wide range of topics from biosensor design and genetic engineering to healthcare and pharmaceutic drug development. The classes are interesting and the professors are knowledgeable. For example, in the Genetic Engineering course I acquired the ability to modify genes and I wrote a research proposal based on my own original idea. Besides learning advanced technology in the school, I also found an opportunity to work at NYU Langone Medical Center. This experience not only improved my lab skills, but also helped me better understand how what I learned in class is applied to research.

After graduation, I landed a full-time position in a biotechnology company which designs and makes biofabricated leather without killing an animal. It creates a new way for people to think about the relationship between human and nature, and I am so proud to be a part of this new biotech innovation.
