PROGRAM LENGTH Two-week summer program
Monday–Friday, 9 am-4 pm
ELIGIBILITY Must be Age 14+ the day program begins (minimum 15 years old for housing)
EXPENSES

$2500 tuition
$100 materials fee
$100 events fee
$610 for optional housing and approximately $370 for meal plan packages

** UX and Session 3 of XR Can be bundled for $4500
*Unfortunately scholarships and financial aid are not available for this program at this time

 

50% due (1) week of acceptance to hold your spot and the balance due (1) week before your session start date. 

Tuition deposit is non-refundable.

User Experience Design:

NYU Tandon's Summer Program for User Experience Design introduces high school students to the fundamentals of using design research to develop innovative and creative design interventions in the form of digital products and services. Designers employ a large variety of creative frameworks, tools, and methods in order to understand the world we live in.

XR through Virtual Worlds:

NYU Tandon's Summer Program for Extending Reality Through Virtual Worlds introduces high-school students to the fundamentals of designing and developing augmented reality (AR) based video games that focus on telling choice-driven stories. Over the course, students will learn to create narrative-based games with engaging and interactive stories driven by rich stories that unfold in the real world via AR, and that emphasize players making choices and driving the narrative through blurring the boundaries between the virtual and real.

Coursework

Programs in Design and Digital Media focus students on creative practice, design research and multidisciplinary experimentation with emerging media technologies. These offerings purposefully explore ‘STEAM‘, combining artistic inquiry with scientific research and technological practice and tools. Students can develop innovative and creative design interventions in the form of digital products and services, or work on their UX technical skills with design software like Adobe CC and Figma to learn to develop prototypes and interfaces that show how their solutions will work. In the AR track, students will learn to create narrative-based games with engaging and interactive stories in which players make choices to drive the narrative, blurring the boundaries between the virtual and real.

  • Session One – Orientation  June 16 (via Zoom): Program June 20 – June 30
  • Session Two – Orientation  July 7 (via Zoom):  Program  July 10 – July 21   
  • Session Three – Orientation  July 28 (via Zoom): Program  July 31 – August 11
