Clean Energy Connections Presents The Expansion of Distributed PV in the Age of the Grid Edge

NEW YORK, February 25, 2014 – Clean Energy Connections launches its 2014 season with The Expansion of Distributed PV in the Age of the Grid Edge. For this year’s series, Solar 1 and NYC ACRE are proud to announce a partnership with Greentech Media for content development and industry outreach. The first event will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, 44 Charlton Street, New York.

The Clean Energy Connections discussion series brings together clean energy industry professionals, policymakers, investors, and researchers. Each event is a forum to share best practices and explore emerging technology, markets and policy. The theme of the 2014 season is the grid edge: the setting for the ongoing transformation of the electric grid. As new distributed energy generation  is integrated into business and regulatory models in the power sector, a stable transition to a next-generation electricity system depends on coordinating all aspects of grid modernization. The four events in 2014 will highlight each layer of this transition, from physical assets to data analytics:

  1. The Expansion of Distributed PV in the Age of the Grid Edge, Tuesday, March 4, 2014
  2. The Age of Intelligent Storage: Distributed Systems, Smart Software and Control Systems, Wednesday, May 14, 2014
  3. The Future of Building Energy Management Systems at the Grid Edge, Wednesday, September 24, 2014
  4. Grid Edge Analytics: Advances in Big Data, Intelligent Software and Analytics Behind the Meter, Wednesday, November 5, 2014

The Expansion of Distributed PV in the Age of the Grid Edge will address the impacts on grid infrastructure and industry stakeholders from the rapid growth of PV (photo voltaics). According to GTM Research, more distributed solar has been deployed in the past 2.5 years than in the 50 years prior, and they are forecasting another doubling over the next 2.5 years. The new technology and policy necessary to integrate increasing levels of customer-generated power will fuel the discussion between industry leaders:
