Join NSBE in their annual A Walk for Education. In an effort to increase awareness of the opportunities available through education, particularly in the STEM fields, NSBE will be going out into the local community to share information and resources.

Opening Keynote & Lunch, Women's Summit 2014

The Opening Keynote will be given by NYU Professor Wendy Suzuki, who will discuss her research and career path as well as her experiences as woman within STEM. Dr. Suzuki currently runs an active research lab at New York University in the Center for Neural Science where her research has focused on understanding the patterns of brain activity underlying long-term memory as well as the role of aerobic exercise in improving learning, memory and cognition. Leadership Dinner, Women's Summit 2014

Documentary Days: Miss Representation

Join us for popcorn and snacks, while watching this film that uncovers a glaring reality we live with every day but fail to see. Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself.

Performances will include dances, songs, skits, and fashion shows. It is usually the last time many outgoing seniors get to perform, and so it always attracts a big crowd.

Amit Khanna, a media leader on Indian television and cinema, has been the Chairman of the Board of Reliance Entertainment. He has had a long career as a film and television director and a journalist. He currently plays a major role in debates about media policy, regulation and markets in India and in global markets for Indian media content. Amit was instrumental in the forging of connections between Reliance and Hollywood, especially in the creation of a partnership with Steven Spielberg’s Dreamworks. Amit set up India’s first diversified Media Company Plus Channel in 1989.  He is visiting NYU as a guest of the NYU Department of Media, Culture, and Communication and the NYU Marron Institute. Women's Summit 2014

An initiative of the Division of Student Affairs, the summit exists to empower women students by building connections to faculty, alumna and each other, while providing resources for and promoting discussion of issues and topics relevant to women in STEM. Each year the summit focuses on sharing knowledge, experience and expertise with the School of Engineering's female community and the STEM community at NYU’s Washington Square Campus.
