Valiant Effort Falls Short; Volleyball Falls to Bard

Raptors Hold Off NYU-Poly for 3-2 Win

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - It was a preview of the upcoming Skyline Conference Men's Volleyball playoffs - NYU-Poly taking on Bard College on Sunday at the Raptors home court. And after the first game, the Jays were thinking upset as they beat Bard 25-20. But the Raptors won sets two and three, before a NYU-Poly rally in set four. But, in the end, the first-place squad's experience proved the difference as Bard won the tiebreaker 15-9.

The Jays fell in set two by a 25-13 margin and dropped set three 25-16. The match appeared headed to a conclusion in game four as Bard held a comfortable lead. But, the Jays rallied to take a thrilling, come-from-behind 28-26 win.

Later in the day, the Jays faced off with another Skyline opponent Sage. Despite another strong start, the Jays dropped three straight to the Gators, losing by scores of 26-24, 25-8, and 25-21.

NYU-Poly will travel back to Bard next weekend for the Skyline Tournament. Likely, the Jays will be the fourth seed and will play top seed, Bard.
