Lady Jays Rally for 4-2 Win Over Hope International

SAN MARCOS, CA -  Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, freshmen Sadie Hoschen (Huntington Beach, CA) picked up her first big hit as a Lady Jay - a game-winning RBI double- that scored junior Katie Jo Sunday (West Lawn, PA) and gave NYU-Poly a 4-2 win over Hope International Monday.  The Lady Jays improve to 1-2 on their California trip at the San Marcos Cougar Clash held at Cal State San Marcos.

Sunday led off the fourth inning with a double to left field and scored when Hope's pitcher Alexis Alonzo gave Hoschen a pitch she liked. The freshmen ripped the pitch down the left field line to put the Lady Jays up 4-2. Hope would never get another runner past first base as freshmen Lyndsey Rathburn (Mission Viejo, CA) earned her first collegiate win, pitching a six-hit complete game. She scattered the six hits over four innings and struck out two, while walking three.

Freshmen Megan Moran (Reno, NV) had a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two RBI, while sophomore Shelby Bruns (Elko, NV) scored a pair of runs for NYU-Poly.
