On To the Semi's - Softball Beats Old Westbury 6-3
Lady Jays win their 19th in a row
Brooklyn, NY - The NYU-Poly softball team has been waiting for this moment since their mid-season split with Farmingdale College. Thanks to a 6-3 win over Old Westbury in Thursday afternoon's Skyline Semi-finals, the Lady Jays will play the Rams Saturday. Both teams won their opening round game in the double-elimination tournament.
The Lady Jays, who have won a program best 19 straight contests, improved to 29-8 on the season, as freshmen Miranda Merilli (Altoona, PA) picked up her 19th win of the season.
NYU-Poly, thanks to their regular season title, will host all the remaining games at Floyd Bennet Field. The schedule is as follows for Saturday:
NYU-Poly (#1) will play Farmingdale (#2) at 11:00am. The winner of this game advances to the finals on Sunday at 12:00 noon. Mount Saint Mary (#3) will play Old Westbury (#4) at 1:00pm. The loser of this game is eliminated, the winner will play immediately afterwards (3:00pm) against the loser of the 11:00am game.
