NYU-Poly wins 16th straight

Brooklyn, NY -  It was certainly sweet... as the NYU-Poly softball team won it's 16th straight contest Friday as the Lady Jays easily took two from Mount Saint Vincent in a Skyline Conference twin bill. The Lady Jays, with just 9 players, easily defeated the Dolphins 5-0 and 15-0.

NYU-Poly (26-8, 11-1 Skyline) is in sole possession of first place with two games to play against Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday. If the Lady Jays win both, they will host the Skyline Conference Championships next weekend, as well as own the top seed.

Freshmen pitcher Miranda Merilli (Altoona, PA) pitched both games for the Lady Jays earning her fifth and sixth shutouts of the season. Freshmen Corinne Fitzgibbons (Brooklyn, NY) hit another HR, her fourth of the week, to lead NYU-Poly at the plate.

With the victories, this year's team has set records for most wins in a season and the best overall winning percentage for a season.
