NYU-Poly goes 1-2 at Roger Williams Tournament

Bristol, RI  - Things looked good, as the Fighting Blue Jays women's volleyball team overcame a first set loss to University of New England, eventually overtaking them 3-1 in the first of three games at the Roger Williams Invitational in Bristol, RI.  NYU-Poly fell 15-25 in the first set, but stormed back to win three straight, 25-19, 25-22, and 25-19.

Unfortunately, the Lady Jays ran into a buzzsaw in tournament champion Roger Williams in match two and fell 3-1. The silver lining in the loss was the fact that NYU-Poly was the only team to win a match against the Hawks. Match scores were 11-25, 16-25, 25-22, and 21-25.

In the final match of the day, NYU-Poly faced off against Rivier College (MA) and lost a marathon match 3-2. The two teams battled it out in the first two games, splitting 25-22 and 23-25. The Fighting Blue Jays wont the crucial third frame 25-20, only to lose a marathon fourth game 30-32. As if that wasn't enough excitement, the final frame went down to the last hit, but unfortunately the Lady Jays were on the wrong end, losing 13-15.

NYU-Poly pulls to 4-4 on the season and will play a tri-match on Saturday, September 19 at William Patterson, with York College (NY).
