Skyline Conference recognizes top NYU-Poly athletes


The metropolitan area’s Skyline Conference has honored 2 Polytechnic Institute of NYU basketball players and 2 of its volleyball players.

Margaux Pickell Named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year
Freshman forward, Margaux Pickell, was named the Skyline Conference Women's Basketball 2008-09 Rookie of the Year. In addition to that honor, Ms. Pickell was also named to the All-Skyline Conference Second team. Ms. Pickell had a stellar freshman year, finishing 7th in the conference in scoring at 16.2 ppg, and led the conference in rebounding at 12.7 rpg. She tied a season high of 25 points against Old Westbury and later on in the season against Farmingdale.  She also recorded a season high of 19 rebounds against Purchase.

Arjun Ohri Named to the Second Team All-Skyline
Sophomore guard, Arjun Ohri, was named to the Second-Team Skyline All-Conference basketball teams. Mr. Ohri finished the season as the conference's second leading scorer and 11th in the nation, averaging 23 points per game. He was NYU-Poly's leading scorer in 14 of 25 contests. Mr. Ohri added 3 40+-point games to his resume, including a career high, 46 points against Conference-Champion, St. Joseph's.

Jay Kwon and Robert Petri Earn All-Skyline Honors
Robert Petri and Jay Kwon have both been named to the Skyline All-Conference Second Men’s Volleyball Team.  Mr. Petri, a junior, led the Skyline Conference in digs, finished third in kills, and in the top ten in 4 other categories.  Mr. Kwon, also a junior, complimented Mr. Petri with 275 assists, finishing 6th in the conference overall, and 4th in digs with 165.
