Poly Student-Athletes Recognized by North Eastern Athletic Conference


Two exceptional Poly students were recognized by the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as Student-Athletes of the Week during the 2006 fall semester.


Thomas Young, a junior from Athens, Greece, was selected as the NEAC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for week ending Sunday, December 10, 2006. Young, a 6’6” junior forward for the Poly Blue Jays, was selected for his outstanding offensive performance leading his team to a 1-1 week in conference play. Young finished the week with 55 points, 26 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 2-for 5 from 3-point range, 13-for-19 from the foul line, and a .526 shooting percentage. In a league game against Cazenovia, Young scored 36 points and 19 rebounds. 

 

Jacqueline Johnson of Houston, Texas, was selected as the NEAC Women’s Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 10, 2006 for her outstanding performance on the court helping the Blue Jays to a 3-0 week. Johnson, a junior outside hitter, finished the weekend playing a total of 9 games, with 42 kills, 66 attempts, .545 hitting percentage, 4 assists, 7 aces, 11 digs, 1 total block. Johnson, a freshman, had a terrific first week of her college career.
