The Athletic Department of Polytechnic University held its annual Golf Outing on Sunday, June 11 at the beautiful LaTourette Golf Course in Staten Island.
The bright sunny and windy day was perfect weather for all the participants. Former players, alumni, staff and supporters of the athletic program took part in the event which included a box lunch and a barbeque Dinner at the course.
Hosted by Polytechnic's Athletic Director Maureen Braziel, the event benefits the continued development of the University's athletic program. Numerous prizes were awarded at the Barbeque Dinner for a variety of golfing achievements.
The Scramble forward of team best ball allowed each foursome to play the best shot of the quartet. Team honors went to the foursome of Holly Block (Polytechnic Communications and Media Relations), Glenn Sheehan (a Polytechnic athletic booster), Elisa Linsky (Polytechnic Humanities), and Sunil Gupta (Polytechnic Continuing Education).
Second place team honors were awarded to a team of athletic boosters from the New York Stock Exchange. The foursome included Dennis McGowan, Rich Norton, Tommy Hyland and Aldo Sergi.
In third place for best team ball honors were Steve Xiao (a Polytechnic Alumnus), Marie Bermoth (NYC Transit), Ed Zambrano (alumnus) and Jim Oussani (alumnus). Each member of the team received a handsome trophy for their accomplishments.
The golf event also gave out individual honors. The Men's longest drive went to Dennis McGowan, and the Women's longest drive went to Armajean Osbourne (athletic booster). The closest to the pin winner for the men was Glenn Sheehan, and for the women Holly Block.
