What to Bring to New Graduate Student Orientation

You will need the documents listed below for orientation and the registration process.


International Students

  • NYU Tandon School of Engineering admission letter
  • Passport with visa (if applicable)
  • Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 / DS-2019) (all original copies) (if applicable)
  • I-94 (access online at i94.cbp.dhs.gov and print after arrival in U.S.)
  • Conditional documents–only what is required by the conditions, if any, in your acceptance letter, which may include:
    • Proof of degree, which may include:

      • Official final transcripts with a date of graduation on them
      • Official final transcripts without a date of graduation and a diploma/degree certificate
      • If official final transcripts are not yet available, an official transcript that is as current as possible and a provisional certificate may be shown; an official final transcript and diploma/degree certificate will be required to be shown later in order to register for your second semester.
    • Transcripts for any required prerequisite courses taken since you were admitted
  • Please note: We recommend that you bring your passport, I-20 or DS-2019, and I-94 record (or a copy of each) with you to the orientation session. We won't collect them, but we will discuss each of these documents, and you'll find it useful to have them in hand as we go through the session.

Domestic Students

  • NYU Tandon School of Engineering admission letter
  • Photo ID
  • Conditional documents–only what is required by the conditions, if any, in your acceptance letter, which may include:
    • Proof of degree, which may include:

      • Official final transcripts with a date of graduation on them
      • Official final transcripts without a date of graduation and a diploma/degree certificate
      • If official final transcripts are not yet available, an official transcript that is as current as possible and a provisional certificate may be shown; an official final transcript and diploma/degree certificate will be required to be shown later in order to register for your second semester.
    • Transcripts for any required prerequisite courses taken since you were admitted
    • Official transcripts and anything else required to satisfy a proof of document's condition should already have been submitted before or during admission and before your arrival at NYU.
