Before You Come to Campus

Submit your Tuition Deposit, a $300 (US Dollars) payment that reserves your place in the upcoming academic term. Your deposit is credited to your first semester's tuition bill. You will need your NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering student number in order to complete the tuition deposit transaction. This number is located in the heading of your admission letter. You can submit your payment securely on the NYU School of Engineering website.

Fall 2014 Orientation Pre-Arrival Homework

 

International Students:

-NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering admission letter
-Passport
-F-1/J-1 Visa
-I-20
-I-94 (access online and print at i94.cbp.dhs.gov and print after arrival in U.S.)
-Conditional Documents - only what is required by the conditions, if any, in your acceptance letter, which may include:
     >Official transcripts in a sealed envelope from the institution
     >Proof of Degree, which may include:
          >Official final transcripts with a date of graduation on them
          >Official final transcripts without a date of graduation AND a diploma / degree certificate
          >If official final transcripts are not yet available, an official transcript that is as current as possible AND a provisional certificate may be shown; an official final transcript and diploma / degree certificate will be required to be shown later in order to register for your second semester.

Domestic Students:

Transportation from the Airport to Accommodations

From: JFK

The cheapest transportation option available is using public transportation. AirTran ($5) is a service from the Airport to major transit centers. From there Buses, and Subway lines run throughout the city via NYC MTA ($2.25)

Taxi Cab fares range from:

  • $48 - $52 to Downtown Brooklyn (Plus tolls and tip)
  • $45 Flat Fare to Manhattan (Plus tolls and tip)

From: Newark

Public Transportation is the cheapest option available. Air Tran, combined with NJTransit Buses, or Trains cost between $30 - $50

Taxi Cab fares range from:

  • $65 - $82 to New York City (Plus tolls and tip)

Note: You can request a seat in a shared Bandwagon sedan with the tap of a button, and get picked by a licensed car service. All you need to do is have the Bandwagon Rideshare app on your Android or iOS smartphone. This is a very pocket-friendly option if you do not want to spend too much on exorbitant taxi fares.

What to Bring

You will need the following documents for orientation and the registration process:

International Students

  • Passport
  • Official visa
  • I-20 (all original copies)
  • I-94 (access online at cbp.gov/i94 and print after arrival in U.S.)
  • Original transcripts*
  • Original TOEFL
  • Original GRE

Upon arrival you will report to the Graduate Admissions and  Enrollment located in Regna Lounge (Rogers Hall, Lobby Level)

Domestic Students

  • Photo ID
  • Original Transcripts*

Upon arrival you will report to the Graduate Enrollment Management & Admissions located in Regna Lounge (Rogers Hall, Lobby Level)

*If you have already submitted your Original Transcripts, you do not need to bring them.
