5G Is About to Face a Reality Check

For some time now, there has been a wild buzz about 5G and the multi-gigabit per second data rates that these systems will provide. The move up to the millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum promises new services, and capabilities never thought possible, thanks to the massive bandwidths available beyond today’s 4th generation LTE cellular systems. … NYU [WIRELESS] has, for some time now, been working on projects that involve mmWaves and mobile communications.
