New York start-ups are hoping to make distributed generation a financially viable option for large power producers


On the top floor of Brooklyn's MetroTech Center, with some of the best views of New York, 13 start-ups are busy working on technologies and business ideas they hope will revolutionise the way the city generates and uses power.

We are in the Urban Future Lab, an incubator project between NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering and the City and State of New York, which for the past five years has helped support the city's clean tech and energy entrepreneurs.
