Engineering students searching for a way to help stop the Ebola virus will convene this weekend for a two-day "Hack Ebola" hackathon, a collaboration session designed to build a solution that can be deployed in west Africa in short order.

The Design Tinkering Club at NYU Polytechnic is staging the open-ended group push to find some way to help stop the deadly disease, organizers said. While you might think the private sector's best chance to contribute to virus control is withprotective gear or vaccine development, there's a lot of low-hanging fruit for tech innovators, said organizer Aditya Brahmabhatt.
