NYU-Poly and Scientific American Launch Online Education Program

NYU-Poly is working with Scientific American to present an online continuing education program beginning in March. The program will use webinars, prerecorded content, live question-and-answer sessions, and peer-to-peer learning, according to the new program’s online description.
Classes will be bigger than the average in-person seminar, but much smaller than mass-produced MOOCs. The site says the program is intended for “professionals who want to stay ahead of the curve, advance their careers, start a new business and expand their horizons.” Online education in engineering is certainly a challenge, but NYU’s other continuing education programs have proven popular. In the program’s early stages, registration is discounted for several courses, costing just $599 rather than $799. (For a comparison, one credit at Poly costs $1,273.)
