The Ringling Steps up its Contemporary Offerings with "NOWHERE"


The 2013 Ringling International Arts Festival was still in full swing, but Matthew McLendon and Dwight Currie — The Ringling's curators of contemporary and performance art respectively — were already focused on what lies ahead.

At a "Curators Conversation" Saturday, the two presented an overview of the more than 30 events in "NOWHERE: Finding Our Way in the 21st Century," the museum's contemporary programming for the upcoming season. Running from the winter solstice through the vernal equinox, the "Art of Our Time" series includes exhibitions, stage performances and informal conversations with and about living artists that will be held in the museum's Historic Asolo Theatre, James Turrell Skyspace, galleries and courtyard.
