Roger W. Neal Named Founding Executive Director Of NYC Media Lab


Today, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and Columbia University have announced that Roger W. Neal, formerly the senior vice president and general manager of Businessweek Digital, has been named  the founding executive director of the NYC Media Lab. The Lab’s function is to act as a portal linking the academic and media business worlds.

In his new role, Neal will be responsible for the Lab’s ongoing commitment to bridging large media incumbents, start-up companies, venture investors, and university researchers in order to stimulate collaborative efforts among members of the New York media.

During his time at Businessweek Digital, Neal launched the magazine’s Company Insight Center, led an investment in professional social networking site LinkedIn, and built the sharing platform Business Exchange. Before joining Newsweek, he worked at eBay as its director of strategic partnerships. Neal has also worked in executive positions at Time Warner and Aol and has written for Forbes.
