$2M Renovation Projects Kick Off NYU-Poly’s ‘Exciting Changes’
Cafeteria, Main Corridor Emphasize Sustainability
To jump-start the campus transformation at Polytechnic Institute of NYU (better known locally as NYU-Poly), and to signal “exciting changes to come,” two renovation projects are underway at the Downtown Brooklyn campus, the Brooklyn Eagle has learned.
Dubbed Project 2010, the $2 million “starter” effort involves the renovation of the main corridor and cafeteria (now to be a café) at Rogers Hall, on the MetroTech Center campus, according to Dennis Dintino, vice president of finance and business administration.
Awarded to the internationally renowned design firm, Grimshaw Architects, construction began in July and is expected to be completed by the end of September, according to school officials.
“The corridor, a main artery of faculty, staff, student and visitor traffic, and the cafeteria, one of the major gathering places on campus, were natural places to begin to signal the academic and physical transformations NYU-Poly is undergoing,” said Dintino.
