Can I Patent That?

Academic

For NYU Community

Continuing our series on patents, the Dibner Library presents "Can I Patent That?"  You have an idea for an invention, but is it patentable? And, if so, how do you go about patenting it?

Sure, all kinds of crazy things have been patented but what are the practical considerations to seeking a patent?  How do you figure out if you have an invention worth patenting and how to get started in the patent process?

This workshop will teach you the basics of what a patent is, how to read the patent document, the different types of patents, and how to start a patentability search.  You will also learn about various resources available to you, such as the NYU Office of Industrial Liaison, as a student at the Tandon School of Engineering.
